Creating a genre-bending blend of electronic music and underground samples, the Melbourne based artist Solid Light (a.k.a. Dan Steele) is working hard developing his own unique style.
Influenced by a diverse range of artists from Gerling and The Avalanches, to Gotye, Underworld, and through to the classic David Bowie, Solid Light has been developing his song writing skills since he was first introduced to software synthesizers.
Since those early days, Solid Light has developed a unique cut-and-paste style of production combined with his love for writing his own original psychedelic lyrics.
Solid Light’s first official release, the GLOSS EP, is a collection of 4 songs written over the past 12 months. Named for the extravagance - or ‘gloss’ - that many people rely on in their lives to feel fulfilled, the GLOSS EP covers a raft of messages, electronic samples, guitars and keyboards throughout the four tracks, combining for what is an auspicious debut release. Most certainly, new listeners will be looking for more from this enlightened new talent – Solid Light.
