Coming in at number nine (IX) in our edit series is a spiralling edit by former Melbournite, now Parisian CHSTRBNKS. He’s taken a rip of S.O.S. Band’s classic track ‘The Finest’ and smoothly applied his own groove via MPC.

CHSTRBNKS has a love for applying the ‘human touch’ in his production – a process which reflects a sort-after warmth and depth to his sound. We are super excited to add this to the growing Bad Party edit collection.

The latest and eighth (VIII) addition to our edit series is a well-structured and super rhythmic rejig of the Roy Ayers classic tune: King George (taken from the 1973 soundtrack to the movie ‘Coffy’ – http://www.discogs.com/Roy-Ayers-Coffy/master/127408).

The new Melbourne duo WNDWS98 are responsible for bringing this track back to life and we’re stoked to add this to the Bad Party Edit collection.

Cosmic Love is a smooth combination of house music and class A groove – melted together in trademark Jamin Hernandez (J.H.) style . The overall feeling of the song is futuristic, yet the recordings and instruments used are classic. The ‘Cosmic Love’ single reflects a solid direction for J.H. following a positive response to his recent remix of ‘Opium Den’ for Bad-Party Records – reaching number one on the Kiss FM charts.

The single is accompanied by a pair of remixes from Solid Light and Mr Bronson. The Solid Light version is a euphoric take on the original built on a foundation of warm, analog string-synth melodies. Mr Bronson has repinned the song through a nicely balanced application of classic electronic instruments. Overall, the release is diverse with three genuinely unique tracks.

Opium Den is a slow grinding yet euphoric combination of piano, phasing drums, beautiful vocals and deep churning bass. It was written and produced over the course of a year – starting out as a basic beat and eventually evolving through collaboration with Clancye Milne (vocals) and Matt Panag (piano).

Echo Team have reworked the song completely in their take on it. The attention to detail duo redesigned the mood and landscape of the song to suit their signature beats.

The club version of the track has been created by Jamin Hernandez – an upcoming Mexican dance music producer. It’s a funkier more upbeat synth-driven take on the original.

Passwords is the debut album from audio wrangler Solid Light. The first full length release for Bad Party Records, Passwords consists of thirteen separately themed tracks – all represented by a synth-driven combination of left-field dance music production. The entire album has been written, recorded and edited over the past year – creating a polished and unique musical journey.

Genre-crossing the musical rivers of hip-hop, disco, left-field electronica and indie-pop have led to a final product that depicts a passion for originality and the art of experimental production.

While the album’s tracks are independently very different, recorded in various studios with guest vocalists and performances from local musicians, the warmth of the recordings and loosely arranged rhythms are common throughout.
